Right To Life

Lobbying face to face with your MP is the most effective form of lobbying.

Now that is it possible to do so, SPUC is holding a Mass lobby of MPs on Friday 16 July or Saturday 17 July 2021. We are asking pro-life supporters up and down the country to organise a meeting with their MP, at the MP’s constituency office, on one of these dates.

We need to lobby MPs now to:

  • End DIY abortion
  • Protect vulnerable people from assisted suicide.

Ask your MP to sign a Parliamentary motion to stop ‘DIY’ abortion

Carla Lockhart MP has launched a parliamentary motion calling on the Government to end ‘DIY’ home abortion.  If ‘DIY’ home abortions become permanent, this will be a very big change to abortion provision that will likely lead to the loss of many more lives - and it is likely that this will have a strong negative impact on the physical and emotional health of women.  It is therefore vital that as many MPs as possible sign Carla Lockhart’s motion to send a clear message to the Government that they must end dangerous ‘DIY’ home abortion services as soon as possible.

Right To Life UK has launched an easy-to-use tool which makes it simple for you to send an email to your MP asking them to sign the motion. This tool can be accessed here. You can also download a poster here.

Home Abortions

As you are likely already aware, the UK Government has temporarily allowed home abortions.

Since home abortions were temporarily allowed, as has been reported extensively in the media, a number of significant problems have put the lives and health of many women in danger (you can read more about these significant problems here)

Recently, the UK Government has launched a consultation on whether to make permanent the current temporary arrangement allowing ‘DIY’ home abortions. In response to this, we are asking members of the public to take action and submit their views to the consultation. Right To Life UK has set up an easy-to-use tool on their website that makes it simple to complete your submission. This tool can be accessed here,

Act now and stop disability abortion up to birth in NI

Earlier this year the Northern Ireland Assembly voted on the Severe Fetal Impairment Abortion (Amendment) Bill and it passed Second Stage by 48 votes to 12.

The Northern Ireland Health Committee is now undertaking a consultation on the Bill and is seeking submissions from the public. It is important that as many people as possible submit to the consultation in support of the Bill to clearly show that there is widespread support for this important change.

Right To Life UK has set up an easy-to-use tool on their website that makes it simple to complete your submission. You can do so by following the link below. It only takes 30 seconds!

RIGHT TO LIFE UK - Cleft Plate & Club Foot

Sadly abortion is currently available in the UK right up to birth for babies with cleft lip, cleft palate and club foot. All of these conditions can be corrected.

A cross-party group of MPs from the three largest parties in the UK Parliament have come together to bring forward the Abortion (Cleft lip, cleft palate and club foot) Bill. The Bill will change the law to clarify that cleft palate, cleft lip, and club foot are not grounds for abortion in the UK. You can find out more about the Bill and the families supporting it at www.standupandsmile.org.uk

If you would like to email your MP asking them to support the amendment, you can do this easily using a tool which has been set up on the Genocide Response campaign website, which can be accessed by visiting the link below: Thank you

Letter to Priti Patel

Please consider sending the attached letter to the Home Secretary, Priti Patel who is thinking of banning Catholics from offering help to the Mums going into the abortion centres.

Ask your MP to support a NEW amendment to help stop forced abortion in Xinjiang, China

There is extensive evidence that many women in the Uyghur Muslim community in Xinjiang, China are being subjected to forced abortions.

Lord Alton is currently championing a new amendment to the Trade Bill, to help put international pressure on the Chinese Communist Party to stop the practice of forced abortions and wider human rights abuses that evidence shows is being perpetuated against the Uyghur community. The amendment passed in the Lords on 23 February by 367 votes to 214, and is likely to be voted on in the Commons shortly.
